Why the name?

A torii is the gate at the entrance to a Japanese shrine. It stands apart from the walls, often with none around it, and crossing under one means something specific: you are leaving the everyday world and entering a space set apart from it. Anyone may walk up to the gate. Only those who pass through it are inside.

That is your membership site, almost literally. Your content is a private garden: tended, personal, and not public property. The gate is what decides who steps into it. Everyone can see the gate from the road; members pass through; everyone else keeps walking.

The garden itself is why members pay to enter. A garden that is only grass behind a fence is not worth a key. Yours holds illumination: lessons that light the way forward, a community walking the same path, and the quiet of a place where everybody present chose to be there.

The name is also a small statement about priorities. The gate matters, but it is the least interesting part of the shrine. We think access control should feel the same way: solid, always there, never the point. The point is what you build behind it.
