[memb_ghl_custom_value]

Description

Retrieves a custom value from the HighLevel connector's synced store using the provided key and outputs it HTML-escaped. When the key doesn't exist, the configured default is output instead.

Custom values are location-level key/value pairs maintained in HighLevel and synced locally, no API call is made at render time.

A custom value is not a contact field. It's an account-wide global: your company address, a support phone number, a Zoom room. You set it once in HighLevel under Settings → Custom Values, reference it in emails and automations, and a change there updates it everywhere it's used, your site included.

Two things trip people up:

  • The key attribute takes the custom value's name ("company address"), not the merge key HighLevel displays. If the name has a space, wrap it in quotes.
  • Values don't sync in real time. If you just added or changed one and the shortcode outputs nothing (or the old value), run Membership → HighLevel → Sync Custom Values, then refresh.

If the content you want to reuse only needs to exist on your WordPress site, you don't need this shortcode or HighLevel at all. Smart Blocks ([memb_smartblock]) do site-local reusable content without a sync step. Reach for custom values when the data already lives in HighLevel or belongs there.
