Who Gets Onboarded
A member enters the funnel in one of three ways, and the module has a switch for each: created by the CRM, self-registered, or added by hand. This page covers who each switch captures, who is skipped and why, and the record the module keeps of it all.
The three switches
Members created by CRM webhook. When your CRM creates a WordPress account through a webhook, the member can be flagged for onboarding automatically. This is the natural pairing with magic-link login: the CRM creates the account without a password, the welcome email carries the magic link, and the click lands the member in the funnel to pick a real password. If you use the provisioning flow, turn this on.
Passwordless registrations. Members who register through Torii's own form without choosing a password are flagged when registration completes. Members who do supply a password at registration are skipped, and for a plain reason: they finished setup by definition. The funnel exists to complete setup; a member with a working password has nothing left to do in it.
Accounts you create by hand. The switch adds a "Require onboarding" checkbox (on by default) to the WordPress Users → Add New screen. Check it for members who should pick their own password; uncheck it for staff, test accounts, and internal logins that do not need the funnel.
The flag and the reason
Enrollment is a flag on the member's account, not a role or a tag: a timestamp recording that onboarding is needed, plus a reason key, one of webhook, registration_passwordless, or admin_manual. Everything downstream keys off that flag. The login redirect sends flagged members to the funnel page, and the sandbox holds them there until the last gate completes.
The reason survives completion. When the flag clears, the reason stays on the account, so you can always answer the audit question: how did this member come to us, and did they finish setup?
Magic links and the funnel
The flag affects magic links even after they are generated. When a magic link is created, its destination is swapped to the funnel page for a flagged member. When it is clicked, the swap runs again, so links generated before the member was flagged still land in the funnel rather than the dashboard. Nobody slips through the gap between enrollment and email delivery.
Checking and changing enrollment
To see whether a member is flagged, open their Member Profile: the onboarding section shows it. To release a member from the funnel without the gates, clear the flag from the same place. See The Onboarding Sandbox for what release means, and Setting Up the Onboarding Funnel for the settings walk-through.
